BUILT ON EAST COAST SWELL

We’re James and Jack; lifelong friends who met in kindergarten and grew up chasing waves along the shores of New England and New Jersey. We’ve surfed around the world, but the Atlantic always calls us home. It’s where we learned to love the process. Checking the charts, packing the car in the dark, layering up in freezing parking lots, and paddling out with a couple of equally obsessed friends.

From the beginning, our vision for Surf the East has been a team effort. Caroline, James’ sister and a creative force in our lives, has helped bring this brand to life. From designing the logos to helping steer our voice on social media, she’s shaped the look and feel of Surf the East. She’s grown up alongside us, knowing this coastline and our love for the water as well as anyone.

But Surf the East isn’t just about us, or where we’re from. It’s about the entire East Coast community. From the rocky breaks of Maine to the humid beach breaks of Florida. It’s about surfers who ride hurricane swells, winter windslop, and flat spells with equal heart. It’s about the chase, the endurance, and the unspoken bond between those who answer the Atlantic’s call, wherever they are.

We started Surf the East to represent a surf culture that’s often overlooked. The savages who charge the coast in all conditions. The people who know that surfing isn’t always clean or easy, but always worth it. Our clothing is built for them. Built to last. Built with purpose.

OUR MISSION

Surf the East exists to represent the rugged heart of East Coast surf culture. We celebrate the full range of what it means to surf the Atlantic. 

We aim to honor the process, the endurance, and the bonds formed chasing the waves that the Right Coast provides us with. Our gear is made for those who live for the journey and stay for the connection. To each other, to the ocean, and to the wild stretch of coastline we call home. 

We’re building a brand that amplifies the voices of the East Coast surfers, and gives back to the Atlantic that unites us all.

GIVING BACK TO THE COAST

From its inception, the goal of Surf the East was not only to amplify the voices of the east coast surfing community, but also give back to it to ensure the vitality of the ecosystems that provide us with so much. 

Supporting The Surfrider Foundation was an easy choice for Surf the East. Their dedication to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s ocean, waves, and beaches, for all people is aligned with the specific aims and passions of Surf the East. Because of this, Surf the East pledges to donate a portion of our drop proceeds to The Surfrider Foundation.
